Summary:

The Patient Service/Admitting Representative facilitates the admissions procedures for hospital inpatients and outpatients. Obtains all necessary information, and is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of all forms and consents. The Patient Service/Admitting Representative carries out these duties while respecting the dignity and privacy of patients. This position will register patients in the Emergency Department and front admitting areas.

 

The The Patient Service/Admitting Representative must exercise sound judgment relative to the performance of each job function, task and duty listed below. The Patient Service/Admitting Representative shall represent the company in a professional manner at all times.

 

Qualification, Education and/or Experience:            

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent;
  • Recent related experience in the health care industry preferred. Prefer at least one (1) year of clinical admissions and registration, computer, and data entry experience;
  • Proven Data Entry Skills
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, human physiology, and anatomy preferred;
  • Must be able to communicate & comprehend accurately & effectively in English through written & verbal correspondence;
  • Must have high integrity and ability to maintain confidential information;
  • Must maintain a pleasant & professional demeanor under pressure, with multiple duties, emotional situations, and constant interruptions in a fast-paced environment;
  • Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise;
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

 

Language Skills                                             

Ability to read and write in English, analyze, and interpret written company policies, manuals, protocols and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports in a concise and organized manner.   Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from physicians, managers, patients, peer employees, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills                                              

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, area and volume. Able to  calculate figures and numbers related to the field of Nursing.

 Reasoning Ability                                            

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 Computer Skills                                             

Basic computer skills required.
